Female Bodybuilding Myth

I am afraid of becoming too muscular!

For women, it is a serious concern when it comes to bodybuilding. It is, therefore, this article is dedicated to females. Ladies, you can be reassured, you will not become too muscular by practicing bodybuilding. By cons, weightlifting can help you stay in shape and be more effective than cardio alone.

Afraid to look like a male bodybuilder?

This is the most common fear encountered in women when they are advised to do bodybuilding. I can perfectly understand them because, by being bombarded by images of bodybuilders and bodybuilder, there is something to worry about!
This is quite amusing when you think about it because some men try to become as muscular as bodybuilders and do not get there, and women are afraid of becoming like bodybuilders, and this does not happen either.
Why ? Simply because most of these female bodybuilders use steroids to build a body beyond what it is natural. Without these products, illegal, I specify, it is almost impossible to look like a competition bodybuilder.

That is the first point. However, you say, it is still possible to become very muscular with strength training! Yes, it is true, with practice, a man can become rather muscular. A man, not a woman. For a woman, it is much more difficult. I might even say it is impossible. In order to build muscle, men body produce a hormone called testosterone. This hormone is much less present in your body, ladies. This significantly limits the gain of muscles in your case. So there is no worry!

Muscle growth will be slow and limited for a woman, no risk of being too muscular. Besides, this growth will be less than men because, to make muscle, it is necessary to eat a lot. However, those who practice weight lifting often do so to keep the line or lose weight.

The body will not receive enough nutrients to build a lot of muscles. Finally, if you need a final argument, know that if the result of your weight lifting you do not like, it is possible to adapt the training or decrease the number of sessions, and the volume of your muscles will decrease automatically. Nothing is frozen!

Why practice bodybuilding?

Increase your metabolism

Weight lifting is another way to burn fat. Indeed, although its practice uses less energy than cardio, gaining a bit of muscle will increase your metabolism base.

Why ? Because muscles burn calories, even at rest. Using bodybuilding to lose weight is ultimately like reducing your diet but in reverse. Instead of eating less, you simply burn more calories at rest.

What you should also know, if you are on a diet, is that by reducing your rations, your body gets rid of fat but also muscle. The result is that you lose muscle tone, and it shows, but also that your metabolism decreases. It is a phenomena that leads to slower fat loss and the yo-yo effect! At the end of the diet, if you resume your normal diet while your body no longer needs food, you will necessarily take back more kilos than before.

But bodybuilding is a perfect solution because, by stimulating your muscles, your body will tend to preserve them rather than eliminate them. Your metabolism will, therefore, remain the same.

Correcting your posture

Everyone has muscle weaknesses, imbalances. In some it is obvious little, in others, it influences their posture. They can end up with falling shoulders, rounded back.

By practicing a little weightlifting, it is possible to correct this kind of “defects” of posture. This can transform a person. A woman with a weakness of the back muscles can, for example, recover and this will improve her figure very much.

How to train?

I often hear women being advised to train with a lot of reps and very light weights. All this to burn calories and avoid taking volume. However, in my opinion, this is a mistake. Already because to burn calories in a session, there is better than weight lifting, cardio all sports, for example. Also besides, as I said above, there is no danger of taking too much muscle for a woman.

On the contrary, if she wants to get a curved effect and tonicity, she must train as a man would because it is the most effective. Personally, I recommend practicing the big exercises is to say, the squat, the bench press, Deadlifts. The weights must be heavy but adapted to your possibilities of course. Use enough weight so that you can not do more than 4 or 5 times 12 repetitions. Finally, you must work all the muscles of your body for a harmonious result.
