The popular assumption is that protein powder is something magical that makes you explode regarding muscle growth. Some will even have examples to quote from their entourage. These same people may tell you that if you stop taking protein powder, then you will lose all your muscles. Here is another myth about bodybuilding that it’s time to get rid of.
Protein Powder are not magic!
To hear some muscle-building practitioners, taking powdered proteins is not only essential for muscle-building, but these proteins also make it possible to “explode” overnight, to become very strong and very muscular. This kind of discourse is also found in the mouths of people who do not practice bodybuilding and who do not know anything about it. Because it is a myth conveyed for a long time by advertising.
However, powdered proteins are only foods such as milk, eggs or soya, filtered, dried and reduced to a powder in order to obtain a supplement rich in protein. These are very practical products to consume enough protein in your diet. But it does not go much further. In reality, you can quite do without ingesting as many proteins through a solid diet, and you will get the same results.
The protein powder will not make you take tons of muscles like magic. How much protein should be consumed?

Beyond this figure, consuming more protein will not bring you much. This will make your kidneys work a little more than normal and will give your body more trouble to regulate the acidity generated by proteins.
Below these numbers, you can still get muscle growth, but it will not be as optimal. Obviously, if you consume too little protein, your body will not be able to build muscle since it uses these nutrients for it.
What happens if you stop taking protein powder?
As mentioned above, powdered proteins are mostly used to meet your protein requirement, reaching this famous 1.4 to 1.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day. If you stop taking it overnight first, do not worry, your muscles are not going to melt in one fell swoop. But, depending on what circumstances you are in, you might have some worries.
If you consume too much protein and stop the protein powder you find yourself in the right range of consumption; then you have no fear to have. Better, this could relieve some of the pressure on maintaining the acid-base balance in your body. That could be favorable.
If you were in the right intake range with powdered protein and you stop taking these, the consequences will depend on how much you ingest in a day. If their shutdown places you in the low range, there should not be too many problems. If you find yourself under the optimum range, then you may have a little more trouble gaining muscle. Your performance will probably slow down. If you consume a lot of protein powder and stop it in a protein deficiency situation, then you risk regressing and gradually losing muscle. If you consume powdered protein to find you in the right range, stop consuming it and replace it with real protein foods, then there will be no change in your progression.
Protein powder or food?
Powdered proteins are food supplements. They must, therefore, complete your diet and not replace it.
